Portable Air Conditioning Units |
|
Portable Air Conditioning Units are the most flexible solution for your home, business or office. These robust yet Mobile Air Conditioning Units are designed to be moved around and located in the most convenient place for your and your staff. Often called Domestic Air Conditioning Units, they usually need close access to a window for the exhaust pipe to fit out of so that hot air can be expelled out site, leaving just cool refreshing air inside for you to enjoy!
Usually portable air conditioning units have wheels and general are 2 - 3 feet in height. Since the air conditioning compressor is self contained inside a single unit, a hose is needed to take the hot air away. This tube is typically has a diameter of 3 - 5 inches. There are 3 ways to collect the condensation: either it's recycled into the air, redistributed via a hole or a bucket is used to collect it.
Choosing a portable air conditioning unit
As with all types of aircon units, some calculation of cooling power or BTU is needed, so that you know your air conditioner will be able to cool your room effectively. You will also want to think about extra features like portability, remote control, condensation system, dehumidifying and whether you want a combination cooler and heater for climate control?
Why buy a portable air conditioning unit?
Portable air conditioners are the most flexible aircon units that can be quickly and simply relocated to another room. They often don't require even a window for venting hot air, some have buckets to hold the condensation that need to be emptied, however some evaporate this condensation harmlessly into the air, or out of a window, and so require no emptying.
Installation of a portable air conditioner
The majority of portable air conditioning units that need them, come complete with easy fit installation kits, including hoses, for use with your window or sliding door. What is important is that you vent the hot air outside the room that you are cooling, whether that be through a window or through a door.
Heating and Cooling
Some portable aircon units just cool, but better quality models have heating elements as well. These can be either simple electric heat strips, but the top of the range air conditioners have proper heat pumps. Whilst they may be a little more expensive, you get tremendous value for money and return on investment, from being able to use an air conditioning unit all year round, as a Climate Control unit: cooling in the summer and heating in the winter.
